The Next Generation Montana campaign focuses on equipping residents to become self-sufficient and prosperous through enhanced access to quality education, abundant job opportunities, and comprehensive skills development and training.
- Empower Parents: Parents should have the primary role in deciding what is best for their child’s learning. To support this, Montana should ensure school curriculums are transparent and require school officials to address parents’ valid concerns respectfully. Additionally, Montana must hold its education system accountable for delivering high-quality education and eliminate obstacles that restrict parents’ choices for their children’s schooling.
- Expand charter schools. Charter schools offer educational alternatives to students and professional alternatives to teachers, raise the academic achievement of surrounding schools, and effectively educate students from a diverse array of backgrounds.
- Align funding for technical training with career outcomes. Montanans should get better value for the money it spends on career and technical education by retooling systems and programs to incentivize outcomes-based funding.
- Improve post-secondary education affordability. Montana should enhance access to high-quality and affordable post-secondary education by implementing key reforms. These include increasing transparency to aid informed decision-making, reducing administrative overhead, and holding institutions accountable for costly degrees and certificates.
